Description:
Prairie Moon All American Dining opened in March 2002. Co-owners
Robert Strom and Paul White, both born and bred Evanstonians,
were thrilled to find the right combination of people and
location to launch their first independently owned venture.
Having managed several successful Evanston restaurants together
for nearly fifteen years, these two are clear about their
goals. Prairie Moon is a celebration of authentic and inventive
regional American cuisine. Drawing from their experiences
traveling around this great and multi-cultural country, and
teaming with seasoned local chef Anthony Luna and souse-chef
Adam Englehardt, they have combined the joy of their discoveries
with the benefits of their professional backgrounds to create
a menu that is exciting, innovative, affordable, and delicious
Prairie Moon is a completely new restaurant that took over
a year to construct. The restaurant has two full bars, three
dining rooms, a seasonal patio and a private party room, pool
tables, and dart boards. Yet somehow, even with the sixteen
to twenty foot ceilings and over 200 seats, its warm colors
and natural lighting along with plenty of warm, natural woods,
"The Moon" has a cozy feel. The walls are decorated
sparingly, with colorful paintings and vintage and modern
travel posters. Mosaic tiles greet your feet in front of McCormick's
bar, a 1940s-era deco gem salvaged from McCormick's, a since-closed
city tavern in old Irish Bridgeport. In the Roadhouse Bar,
the music plays a little louder, sometimes from live bands
and DJs. The bar in the back was rescued from the old Sam
and Hi's Deli, over on Dempster Street. It was the last piece
(delicately plucked by a back hoe) left of that old North
Shore icon.
Prairie Moon offers a complete dinner menu throughout the
week as well as brunch on Sundays.
